Visual Response

Architecture Is...

Architecture is a living, breathing organism.  It is born of an idea and made into a physical being.  From that point it must be nourished, fed, and must adapt to its current setting and habitat, or else it will die and become obsolete.  Architecture can be beautiful or ugly, all dependent upon the opinion of those experiencing it.  Architecture is an open system welcome to infinite change and adaptation.  The buildings we create provide a mirror into our own necessities, wants, and values,  and in this sense as in life we should strive to put our best face forward.  We must learn from the past mistakes of not only ourselves but of others and work to correct and move forward, always advancing towards the positive.  In the simplest of forms, architecture defines the spaces we inhabit every single day, being omnipresent.  As an entity that plays such a vital role in our daily lives, the same thought and sincerity we put forth and strive for in other areas of life should be sought for when designing architecture.  Architecture should be thoughtful, experiential, amazing, inspiring, and breathtaking.  Architecture is not.
